Denver Police Use Social Media To Warn About Sex Predators

DENVER (CBS4) – Denver police are using social media to help keep the public safe.

A new program uses Facebook posts to warn the public about sexually violent predators. The notifications include details about the offender’s appearance and where they live. The efforts are being done to meet requirements of federal and state law.

One recent post on the Denver Police Department Facebook page notified the public about a sexually violent predator named Anthony William Fritz living in the Ruby Hill neighborhood. He is living at 1680 South Tejon Street.

That news was unnerving for Cathy LaFore, who told CBS4 her daughter’s family lives near that location.

“It’s scary,” she said. “You worry about your children the minute they are born and anything can happen.”

Judy Olsen lives in the neighborhood and told CBS4 she’s satisfied with the notifications.
