Shiny Penny Syndrome

What is Nancy Time? I’m Nancy and I’m always running fifteen minutes late. That’s Nancy Time. Why? You know why – the shiny penny.

Let’s say I have to be somewhere at 6:00pm. Maybe I’m picking my friend up so we can go get some dinner. Maybe I’m on my way to a class or a wedding. I don’t know. Pick an event, any event. See you at 6:15!

I’ve tried to figure out why this happens and have found some likely suspects:

  1. “I’ll just check Facebook for one quick second. Then I’ll zip right out the door.” It’s never one quick second, is it? Facebook is the biggest time suck of all time sucks in the history of time sucks.
  2. “It always takes me a half hour to get there.” I don’t know why I think that it takes me a half hour to get everywhere. My parents? A…
